A rebrew of the infamous Barclay's X from 1852, the 'mild' that it's said IPAs were based on, using a combination of pale and mild ale malt and heavily hopped with Goldings. This strong, pale ale has been a firm favourite at the brewery tap the two previous times we've brewed it, but it's never left the brewery before!

From the mid-1800s, a recreation of Tetley's East India Pale Ale brewed withConstable heritage grains malted to the same specifications that Tetley's used. Hopped purely with a lot of Goldings to give this a whopping 118 IBU that will balance with the wooden cask and hold its own against any modern IPA.

At a powerful 7.3% ABV it's primed to deliver lots of flavour and excitement, whilst in the best Monty's tradition, will leave you wanting another. Working together Head Brewer Pam and Paulo worked together to create a recipe that offers something a little different from the usual Monty's brew but is still very much brewed in the same style.

Brewed to mark the 850th anniversary of the trial of Thomas Becket at Northampton Castle and inspired by the recent discovery of the town's first commercial brewery at an archaeological dig opposite our brewery. We have crafted a sweet dark and malty pint with honey the key constituent, an ingredient often found in Mediaeval ales. Becket's Ale won the best Artisan Drink award at 2015's Northamptonshire Food & Drink Awards

To mark the 40th anniversary of the closure of Phipps' original Bridge Street brewery, we have brought back to life the final new brew from the old company. Gold Star was the first casualty of the Watney take over of Phipps and their rationalisation of the brewing range to make way for Red Barrel. It was too strong, too expensive and too good to survive. This titan of a beer has the colour and drinking quality of the IPA but with a subtle punch of an export strength ale.
